[00:00:00] Sam Rhee: Welcome to a new season and new episode of Botox and Burpees. It's been a while.

My name is Sam Rhee, I'm introducing a new format for the podcast. A quick recap, this is my third year of doing Botox and Burpees. When I first started back in May of 2020 at the time, it was in the middle of the pandemic. I just wanted to start doing something, at the time that married my interests, both fitness and plastic surgery.

And I just started by learning how to podcast and talking to people that were interesting.

I started this podcast by talking with athletes like Kathleen Staunton, who was from my gym, medical school classmates like Jess Ting, and other colleagues and mentors that I had, like Lloyd Hoffman and Stephanie Cohen.

One of the people I started talking with was David Syvertsen, one of the owners of CrossFit Bison and we ran a string of about 20 to 25 episodes just talking about CrossFit. Out of that came his own podcast, the Herd Fit, which is a fantastic podcast that is also in its third season. You can find it at herdfitusa.com or on YouTube at youtube.com/ @HerdFIT or on Instagram @HerdFitPodcast.

I've been co-hosting that podcast with him and there are over 80 episodes to date. It's been engaging and dynamic and it's really started to take off. It was in the top 25% of all podcasts last year. So if you have a chance, check that one out. If you're interested in CrossFit, fitness, health, and most importantly, mindset.

Another podcast that came out of Botox and Burpees was Three Plastic Surgeons and a Microphone. And that came about with my two colleagues and friends, Sam Jejurikar and Salvatore Pacella. Sam lives in Dallas, and Sal lives in San Diego. We just started that podcast because we wanted to talk about different plastic surgery topics. Take a deeper dive and also catch up, talk to each other. We trained together at University of Michigan. It's been a while since we've seen each other, and that podcast is still going strong. It's one of the top plastic surgery podcasts out there. We have over 60 episodes and if you wanna check that one out, you can find us on YouTube youtube.com/@3plasticsurgeons

So after the start of those two really successful podcasts, I kind of wondered what I was going to do with Botox and Burpees.

I already participate in two great podcasts. And so where does this one fit? And after a lot of thought, I think the voice of Botox and Burpees is really something that is more personal to me.

So there are some topics that might not fit either with the Herd Fit Podcast or with Three Plastic Surgery Podcast, and that's where Botox and Burpees fits in.

There's a quote from one of the Spider-Man movies where Tony Stark talks to Spider-Man, Peter Parker, and he says,

Don't do anything I would do, and definitely don't do anything I wouldn't do, and in between there there's a little space where you can operate and I think that's where Botox and Burpees lies.

There's already a large list of topics that I'm very excited to talk about, and a lot of it is a mix between fitness and aesthetics, body image. Some of the niche topics about plastic surgery or just fitness and health in general.

Or that complicated world of self-image and how we perceive ourselves and our bodies.

And some of it may also be more related to plastic surgery itself. Like, how do patients and providers deal with the psychologic stigma of weight or attractiveness?

Or even very, very practical tips, such as, should you have massage after liposuction, or what kind of nutrition should you be doing after surgery? Or it could be whatever my hot take is about the latest plastic surgery trend that's out there.

One of my goals with this is to keep it really, really short, five to 10 minutes tops.

I wanted to keep this one really efficient and bite sized for people.

I hope to put these out on a weekly basis, and I would like to put it on its own Instagram account @BotoxandBurpeesPodcast. That way you might even be able to watch the whole thing super fast on social media and not have to go to another YouTube channel or someplace else to check it out.

Hopefully it's very social media friendly, time friendly, something that's high value and addresses some topics that maybe don't get a whole lot of attention out there.

I am really looking forward to it, it gives me a chance to talk about things that are very near and dear to my heart. And as always, if there's anything else that you would like to hear or have any questions about, please feel free to contact me.
